Awesome Life - week 1

A few years ago I started a project where I'd do "something awesome" at least once a week for a year. It turned my life around. It forced me to do more awesome things, and to appreciate the awesomeness of the stuff I was already doing. So, I'm doing it again, starting now.

WEEK 1

Pointless Gameshow
I taped a pilot for a silly game show with a bunch of hilarious writers and producers. I was honored to be a part of it, and had a great time doing it. Hearing a crowd laugh at a joke you wrote is doubly cool when someone else is saying it. It's like legitimacy as a writer: your words did this.

Casper The Friendly Cat
We adopted a 3 yr. old poly-dactyl cat from the city pound last weekend. So far he is friendly, but shy, and very very pretty. A big fluffy black cat. I am hoping he becomes a big more gregarious, but for the time being he more than earns his keep by rolling onto his back and falling asleep whenever he gets petted.

URDB
Tonight I set a record for "Most Audience Members Pets Names In An Improvised Song". To me, the song was not up to my normal standards. But I forget that regular audiences aren't expecting that much, so energy and enthusiasm really counts for a lot. They seemed to really like my song & I got a lot of good feedback on it. So, yay. Also, Kevin Allison, from the State, remember me enough to be excited to see me there. My inner 17-yr-old was amped.

Teaching
I love teaching. I love helping people find the magic and art in themselves and their work. I am in a perfect place for it - I don't have to teach them to be funny or basic music theory. I JUST have to pull their songs out of them. That sounds like magic, right? It is.
